Engadget reveals that the new SDK remove the restriction of VoIP calls to be made only from WiFi connections, but surprisingly, there’s an app named iCall which is already available now for 3G capable of making a VoIP calls. Engadget has tested it out and it works, maybe AT&T has lifted its restrictions. I am a Skype user and still see no update for Skype at the App Store. I’ve just tried it again and still no luck. It is great to be able to make a VoIP call over 3G, but it’s too dependent on the mobile network speed which as we all know probably not enough to cater all users. I think it’s practical enough at the moment to use it over WiFi for best result.
VoIP over 3G allowed?
